We focus on climate venture capital funds and evaluate them on two fronts: how they operate and their portfolios (what they invest in).

Our methodology is deliberately uncomplicated and is designed to showcase the real impact of VC money on creating system change.

How funds operate

We evaluate venture capital funds based on the following criteria:

How they are legally setup
Funding disclosures
Impact reports

Their portfolios

We then evaluate their portfolios (the companies they invest in) on the following criteria:

Impact type (direct or indirect), knowledge accessibility (open or proprietary), solution approach (technological, social, or ecological), risk profile (R&D or proven), and behaviour (efficiency, replacement, or educational).
Success rate (are the startups still running)
SDG Fit (which UN SDGs they primarily target)
Drawdown Fit (which Project Drawdown solutions they primarily target)
